Folder Dump Saturday!
Confession time: my memory sucks. There's a comedienne, Kathleen Madigan I think (but don't hold me to that), who does a sketch about how there just isn't enough room in the brain to remember every little detail, particularly as we age. I have found that to be extremely, positively true. I can remember important stuff...for the most part....but details and everyday minutiae are just GONE unless I write it down somewhere.
Now, apply this concept to my 1+ year long nail polish hobby, where I've been taking photos of my manis and putting them into a computer folder, but only recently started this blog for documentation/sharing purposes....and you can imagine that I have a LOT of manis where I just cannot for the life of me remember what polishes I used. I'm using a better system now, but there are tons of photos sitting on my computer that don't have notes, and they need a home on this blog.
Enter today's post, where I dump photos of the manis I've done, add notes if I remember anything about them, and call it a day. Actually, I'm calling it "Folder Dump". :) Fair warning that the photos are sometimes crap quality (as are the manis themselves!) but hopefully you'll forgive that in favor of seeing fun and simple designs and/or random swatches:
(oooooo, boy....these are worse than I remembered....I'll keep the images small....eeeeek)
Christmas 2012...I think that base color was from the ELF mini pack from last year....loved this little tree, will definitely be doing that again this December.
More after the jump:
Made this mani in honor of Sandy Hook. That glitter is a Pure Ice polish (Walmart) but I don't have it anymore so I can't tell you the name of it.
Another Christmas-themed mani, apparently before I got much better at clean-up.
A crap photo of a GORGEOUS glitter, this is Essie Beyond Cozy. I wore it for Christmas Day. If you don't have this, GO OUT RIGHT NOW and get it. I'm telling you, this is a must-have polish for any collector. :) I'll have to do a re-swatch of this one soon.
Random pic of my favorite favorite blue, probably one of the polishes that really fueled my growing interest in polish...Zoya Natty. This is still one of my go-to polishes whenever I need a simple and fast mani that makes me feel chic.
My husband is a rabid NY Giants fan, so I did this mani for him sometime last season. Not a good one, since that red wasn't opaque, but it looked okay from afar.
Just cannot recall what polish this is. I thought it was a Zoya, but after thinking about it for a while, I'm pretty sure that it's NOT....so again, sorry, no clue.
This is Zoya Vespa, a lovely green that I sooooo wanted to like on me....but didn't....so it's in the swap/donate pile. Makes me sad, but it needs a home that will appreciate her beauty.
This will be my last one for today, trying to end on a higher note...lol. This is Sinful Colors Rainstorm with an accent nail of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Mermaid's Tale. Rainstorm is a near-dupe for Zoya Natty. I wouldn't call it an exact dupe, but it's a good option for anyone who doesn't have easy access to Zoya polishes, plus Sinful Colors is less expensive at $1.99 per bottle!
If you've made it this far, my thanks for sticking with it despite the awful photos and only slightly less awful manis. :)

I like the last one best, just because the accent nail looks so pretty :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like the last one best too, mainly because the other ones are so bad. But hey, we gotta take the bad with the good, right? :-D
DeleteI love the first Christmas tree design -- the Christmas tree looks so modern and the gold base is gorgeous too!
